ENTERTAINMENT CRESTRON REFIT OF M/Y GENESIA

M/Y GENESIA is a 40m yacht built by Feadship in 1987.

It has undergone two major renovations, the last of which was completed in the spring of 2022.

During this last refit, the interior fittings were totally redesigned, and these important works were the occasion to completely renovate the audiovisual home automation of the ship in order to meet the modern requirements of charter activities.

All the work was carried out from the IMS700 yards in Saint Mandrier.

ITE INGENIERIE was solicited within the framework of a consultation on which it was able to make the difference thanks to original and innovative proposals, guided by the following priorities:

  • Evolutivity of the installation

  • Intuitiveness of the interfaces

  • Simplicity of the technical architecture

  • Maintainability of the installation

An innovative approach

The perfect knowledge of the yachting world allowed ITE INGENIERIE to guide us in a totally innovative approach.

Indeed, as the ship is undergoing a complete renovation, particularly of the interiors, ITE INGENIERIE proposed to define an original wiring topology.

Thus, a mix of IP and hybrid HDMI technologies has made it possible to compose an architecture offering optimal management of network and audiovisual flows, without compromise.

All wiring diagrams and drawings were then produced by our design office, before the integration project.

A quick start

With the possibility of accommodating 12 passengers, the MY GENESIA had to have an audiovisual installation that was easy to use, especially for the audio and video equipment in the passengers' cabins.

In a few seconds, from the iPad dedicated to his cabin, the passenger will be able to discover and take in hand all the available functions:

  • Choice of source to stream:

    • AppleTV or Chromecast and their apps,

    • Streaming audio or video from the passenger's phone,

    • Zappiti Media Center and its movie and music libraries,

    • Satellite decoder

  • Manage the audio volume on the cabin speakers.

A modern "Call Service"

ITE INGENIERIE has designed an interactive "Call Service" solution for the needs of charter activities.

This system allows a passenger to call from his cabin or from the area where he is, a member of the crew for a service request.

They can either detail their request, in which case they can use the instant messaging tool on their iPad, or simply initiate a Call Service.

The crew receives the Call Service request on their pager, and can go to an "iPad Crew" to consult the passenger's detailed request and respond.

General broadcast for events

Among the expectations of the new crew, one request concerned the possibility of being able to select an external source from the bridge (for example a PC), and to broadcast it to the cabins and zones of their choice. Thus, during a sporting event for example, if the passengers request it, it is possible to broadcast to all outside decks and lounges at the same time.

The technology used for broadcasting does not impact the ship's network flows.

The NVX technology from Crestron(AV over IP) is used for specific uses, and in particular enables flow matrixing through the boat's network.

The interior lounges and exterior deck have been equipped with sets Bower & Wilkins to provide optimum sound quality.

The two main lounges have a television on a lift, as well as a home cinema sound system for the greatest comfort in this area of the yacht.

Assistance tools for the crew

At any time, the crew can intervene from their iPad in any of the cabins in order to perform an operation at the request of a passenger (choice of a video source, modification of the volume,...).

ITE INGENIERIE has also developed an interface on the iPad for the crew's needs that allows them to visualize the health status of the audiovisual installation. Thus, they can identify at any time if an area of the yacht is faulty, and thus make an initial diagnosis, and eventually put the faulty equipment back into service.

Another advantage of the new installation is that Crestron's NVX technology has been deployed to broadcast technical and navigational information on the television in the captain's cabin. This allows him to keep an eye on the yacht's parameters at all times.

From his iPad, he can also choose sources that only he can view from his cabin (ECDIS, radar, surveillance cameras,...).
